Nice video friend and cool capture ,great work!😍😍👀👀
By the looks of it, I think they'll be going to ScotRail.
Brilliant Video 😊 I didn't know it wad going onto platform 7 I was expecting it to be on 10
Brilliant Video 😊 New Subscriber here 👏
Good video footage well captured
I knew a chap in the 1970's who had worked on the Warship Maybachs at Laira. He said they were a nightmare due to lack of room and it was the British built bits that kept breaking. The first German built engines were OK but the British ancillaries were junk. Spanner steam heating boilers were out of service most of the time. Later on they left the Maybachs ticking over rather than shut them down because the batteries were clapped out too.
Many an afternoon spent on the platforms of Ealing Broadway station way back in the late 60’s and early 70’s watching these impressive machine roar through to and from Paddington to the West Country…. The whole station would shake as the trains passed by……..
Looks like Gibraltar
yes ok
First big loco i had a cab ride in was my fav... Western Courier D1062... even had it as a model wen i was a lad
"Courier" is now preserved; and I was one of the first to buy a few shares in her, back in the 1970s.
Starts like a tractor....runs like a plane!!
Умер во дворе
Class 50 prior to refurbishment were the best sounding. One could hear that Hoover whine from miles away.
Great to see, a real beast ... pre-lubrication of engines, starting engines .... best regards from south Germany
Class 55 uses engines from formidable warships, so it's only right that the 52's uses engines from German tanks.
Nice capture, but a class 37 EE or a sulzer 47 are hard to beat.
Class 47s sound pathetic.
A 47? You must be joking, surely? They have some of the worst thrash going.
@@davidirvine4294Agreed,good locos but engine sound track ain't making it.😅
Magnificent in Maroon. My Hornby model is in Maroon like my Warships
Is that the rock of Gibraltar in the background?
Start watch ING from 1:40
Beautiful sound of the Maybach ....you just can't beat it. Such a shame these magnificent beasts had such a short service life, I remember watching them thunder through Newbury station as a kid in the 70's. As they were taken out of service and most scrapped after barely 10 years on the Western region, thank god a few survive.
I remember a double headed rail trip when THE IRONS played I think it was Swansea in the FA Cup in late 70s. It was heaven
I lived in Newbury in the early seventies and spent many Saturdays on Newbury Station platform watching the Westerns. My school was next to the main line.
Great vid only spoilt by the patronising git telling driver to ‘smile’ at 0.57.
Best sounding loco ever had a few trips over the years at the seven valley.
COLD START THIS ENGINE YOU WOULD THINK THE BUGGER WAS ON FIRE BLACK SMOKE POURING OUT OF HER
Sounds like a panther tank same engine right
Yes that's right I know they both used Maybach v12s that's why they sound similar
No .
I'm loving that engine sound, loco is turned out beautifully too. Thanks for sharing
Still cant beat the sound of one of these beasts thrashing up Dainton bank with load 13 on ,front window aaaaaah the memories
two separated engines???? i"M in a misstake????
No mistake. Two totally separate engines, each with their own transmission, driving one bogie each. A few other classes had this, most notably the Deltic.
ponytail pete at 1 00
Fantastic sound only matched by a Deltic. You British people had a great time when Classes 20 to 56 were all in regular service! At least the 56's remain. Still have to watch some Class 60 videos. Have no idea how they sound yet.
Sergio Kodemo only one sound better than this, that is a Rolls Royce Merlin engine, of which I have made parts for. But followed these since I was 10 in 1970 and spent weeks on holiday in Dawlish with a rail rover behind these great locomotives
This loco Sounds awesome :D
It's Maybach diesels rev quite quickly. Not like the slow rumble of a Peak anyway.
I've seen this engine sitting silently at Bridgnorth many times but I've never seen it run. Nice to see. Wasn't there another one with it at Bridgnorth? A sandy coloured one?
The one at Bridgenorth David is D1062 Western Courier, D1013 Western Ranger is also based there,
@@50018Resolution Western Champion has been stationed at the Severn valley railway with Western Courier and Western Ranger since 2001.
I liked this so much I laughed out loud for both start attempts.
And what makes me laugh the most is to do over a million miles on Voyagers you would be putting in about 300 miles each day which is total bollocks
Hymecks Rock!!! Great Vid, Thanks!
Just been watching this and listening to that wonderful sound LOUD through hi-fi. Wife and mother-in-law worried that there was going to be a plane crash. Great stuff.
Great video, never seen a hymek in the flesh, great little loco.
Sadly, you are probably wrong - when the 66's start to fall by the wayside, they will get their following and there will be a Class 66 Preservation Group and there will be Class 66 farewell tours, and 30 of them will be preserved ... Me, give me a Western any day.
Thanks, oddly enough I am more interested in the diesels that pre date my birth...especially NBL stuff like class 21/ 6100 series and 22/6300's; oh and class 28 co-bo's intrigue me; for some reason the more unreliable the more interesting! westerns were very reliable evidently, but still interesting!
tpvalley actually the westerns weren't reliable they suffered with hydrolic leaks and always broke down because they are not diesel electric they are diesel hydrolic which means the wheels are driven hydrolicly
Well said.. Personally, I can respect all the loco's, but those rods on the steamers scare the life out of me, yeah and the boiler, man never a boring moment on the old steam..
Thats like old steam guys cant see why we like diesels, us oldies cant see why the youth like modern shite, it will continue like this forever maybe; its what u grow up with?
Westerns gave good service evidently yes, but nothing competes with old or new EMD for reliability, economy and ease of maintenance unfortunately; have u seen how easy it is to change a piston (power pack- liner piston and rod), even the heads come off without removing exhaust manifold, they r a genius design. Give me old EE and sulzers anyday.
Always thought these were a very "neat" little loco. Shame none of the new stuff looks anywhere near as good.
You're an idiot. I wouldn't make too much noise about being 'main' on units if I were you. It's not big and it's not clever. Run along now.
@beast66005 There are very few people that havent seen a 66.. Why on earth would i want haulage behind a plastic dog turd? You wont find many friends here.. Better to move on.. For the record I have had haulage behind 08 20 24 25 27 33 37 40 44 45 46 47 50 56 57 67 hst western warship hymek... As well as many many european classes.. And all of them for real.. Not whilst sat at my pc with my trousers round my ankles knocking one out to a sim... Prick
That is clag, a brilliant feature that a 66 will never experience! 66s are crap imports, how about this for a proper class of loco... watch?v=ZbGWcAbpBf l
Well said!
